Lactation Journal Club began more than 20 years ago as an educational offering of The Lactation Program.  Although The Lactation Program sadly closed in December 2009, Journal Club lives on!  It is now co-sponsored by The Mothers’ Milk Bank and Nourish Family Center with Dr. Neifert continuing as the regular facilitator/moderator. First established in 1987 with fewer than a dozen participants, Journal Club has grown to impact more than 165 key health professionals - from hospitals, public health and clinic settings within a 100 mile radius - who are dedicated to promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding. Regular participants include hospital and community-based lactation consultants; hospital maternity nurses, office nurses and public health nurses; hospital and community dietitians; diverse WIC staff; certified nurse midwives; physicians and medical students; childbirth and parent education instructors; mental health professionals; La Leche League Leaders, doulas and others. The group reviews current breastfeeding literature, hears guest speakers, networks with colleagues, learns about national and local breastfeeding initiatives, discusses challenging cases, and previews new educational resources and breastfeeding products.

• The fee for attendance is $30 if registered online which includes Nursing CEUs and/or CERPs. 
  The cost at the door is $35.  Journal Club meets monthly at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center for 2.5 hours from 2:30-5:00 pm.
